Over the past decade, Audeze's LCD series has set the performance standard for planar magnetic headphones. Starting with the LCD-2 ushering in a new era of planar technology in 2009, then we introduced the LCD-3 in 2011 and the LCD-4 in 2015. With the LCD-5s, everything has been improved - drivers, cushions, frame design - to set a new standard for performance and comfort.

The LCD-5 sets a new standard for accuracy. Its drivers are designed with our award-winning Fluxor magnets and updated Fazor waveguides, along with our new patent-pending Parallel Uniforce™ voice coils, which employ variable-width parallel traces to keep impedance low and provide a higher voltage headroom. by altering the current density within each trace. The uniform force created by this optimization reduces distortion and provides better control over diaphragm movement, resulting in better sonic resolution.
Clarity and image.
We've optimized every aspect of the LCD-5's acoustic chamber for a precise image and an extremely clean and clear soundstage. New sculpted pads and acoustically transparent mesh are designed to minimize reflections and resonance, while the Parallel Uniforce™ voice coil allows for increased magnet spacing for improved frequency response and a more open soundstage. The LCD-5 also features newly designed Fazor waveguides to further reduce diffractions and interactions with the ear.
Elegant and comfortable design.
Weighing just 420 grams, the LCD-5 offers hours of listening pleasure. Each part has been redesigned, using materials such as magnesium, aluminum and acetate that offer light weight and great rigidity. When you put on a pair of LCD-5s, the head and ears are cradled in the highest quality materials. Premium leather and carbon fiber bring it all together in a package of the finest craftsmanship, which we assemble by hand in our California workshop.
Sculpted pads.
Our new internally sloped, sculpted pad architecture reduces unwanted resonances and internal reflections. The ergonomic design conforms to the skull and helps position the headphones naturally in the optimal listening position. The pads have less contact surface than standard designs to reduce fatigue while providing a superior seal for all shapes and sizes.
Ultra high purity wire.
LCD-5 cable is specially tuned with directional OCC high-purity copper strands that provide a low-capacitance, low-resistance path for signal to travel from your amplifier to your transducers, while maintaining unsurpassed clarity and accuracy.
