Reinvented from the ground up, the D8000 DC (where "DC" stands for "Da Capo," a musical term meaning "from the beginning") are circumaural planar headphones that represent the ultimate reference standard. According to their creators, they are “the result of a complete reinvention of our flagship model, with a novel and creative approach.” The planar magnetic driver, equipped with the exclusive "Air Film Damping System" (AFDS) technology, which controls driver movement using the viscosity of air, has been completely revamped. This redesign has improved transient response and significantly reduced distortion, achieving superior tonal quality and sound resolution.
Regarding the earpads, which are essential for optimizing sound quality, they incorporate a specially developed fabric with Washi paper, providing a drier tactile feel and enhanced durability. They also include a spongy material that improves breathability. Additionally, the earpads are 50% thicker than in the previous model, creating a larger acoustic space, resulting in a wider soundstage and smoother, more natural vocal reproduction.
