Building on the success of previous models, the LA4 MKIII features a refreshed aesthetic and an optimized circuit. With reduced feedback and gain, it delivers improved macro dynamics and a wider soundstage.
This high-end preamplifier boasts a high-quality single-stage design, complemented by an output buffer. However, what truly sets the LA4 MKIII apart is its meticulously tuned engineering and outstanding power supply. To ensure peak performance, it incorporates an exceptional power supply with two chokes in a dual Pi configuration, providing a stable and refined current. This results in an incredibly smooth sound reproduction with a deep and silent background. Additionally, it utilizes the 274B rectifier tube, renowned for its extraordinary sound quality and considered one of the finest choices available.
The audio circuit employs three 6SN7 tubes—dual triodes that have proven ideal for this type of application. Originating in the 1940s, these tubes stand out due to their larger size, which enhances durability and stability. Their sound is remarkably musical and fluid, allowing for experimentation with both vintage and modern versions.
In keeping with the brand’s tradition, the LA4 MKIII is built with robust materials. Its chassis, crafted from steel and heavy alloy, ensures a solid and durable structure. The internal wiring is entirely hand-wired using the "point-to-point" technique, which is crucial for tube amplifiers. This not only allows for future upgrades with higher-capacity capacitors but also facilitates maintenance and servicing.
