Discreet, robust and stylish, the Edison is a sophisticated phono preamplifier that uses a unique combination of vacuum valves and solid state devices to handle the audio signal, all enhanced by exceptional operational flexibility. Thus, Brinkmann's new phono pre-set incorporates three independent phono inputs (two of which are also available with XLR connectors if the user so chooses), followed by selectable 1: 1 input transformers. For each input, the load impedance can be adjusted in 12 steps between 47 and 47,000 ohms, while the gain can also be individually adjusted in 16 steps with a rotary control located on the front panel. Also, as a reflection of Brinkmann's unique combination of classical and state-of-the-art technology in the Edison, the settings corresponding to the gain, impedance and option chosen to route the signal (using transformer or not) are stored in An EPROM memory when switched to another input, which provides the user with unprecedented flexibility by allowing him at all times to enjoy the potential of very different pickup capsules from each other.
