MUSICAL FIDELITY M8X TT: Innovation and High Fidelity
The M8xTT is a high-end turntable that incorporates innovative concepts inspired by its iconic predecessor.
Design and Philosophy
Antony Michaelson’s vision for sound focuses on large-scale musical reproduction with warmth, power, and a wealth of detailed nuances. This philosophy has been a defining element in the development of Musical Fidelity’s renowned amplifiers.
In 2002, Michaelson partnered with Heinz Lichtenegger to create a turntable design that captured these qualities. The result was the Musical Fidelity M1, a massive success. Its design combined high-mass metal alloys with resonance-free acrylic, achieving exceptional balance. It also introduced an innovative dual-chassis system, isolating the motor from the platter and tonearm to minimize interference.
The M8xTT follows the same design philosophy but incorporates even more advanced technical improvements, elevating the vinyl playback experience to an entirely new level.
10" Tonearm: Precision and Control
The M8xTT features a 10-inch tonearm, designed by Musical Fidelity, offering ultra-low resonance. This tonearm includes a transparent acrylic bearing ring and a tapered aluminum tube, enhancing stability and precision.
It allows for full VTA and azimuth adjustments, making it adaptable to different configurations. Additionally, it includes two counterweights, compatible with cartridges ranging from 6 to 20 g, both TPE-damped to reduce unwanted vibrations.
At the rear, the turntable is equipped with standard RCA outputs and balanced XLR connectors, ensuring maximum flexibility when connecting to different phono preamplifiers.
Motor and Platter: Stability and Precision
The M8xTT’s motor is strategically mounted on a special foam base, placed within the lower acrylic plinth to ensure complete isolation from the platter and tonearm.
The electronic speed control allows for seamless switching between 33 and 45 RPM.
The 10 kg aluminum platter features additional inserts, enhancing its flywheel effect and ensuring stable rotation. This system is complemented by a silicone belt, connecting the motor to the dual-layer TPE-damped platter.
Damped and Adjustable Feet
The M8xTT is equipped with four solid aluminum feet, each featuring TPE damping and magnetic support. These feet connect the two acrylic plinths, separated by Teflon spacers, providing exceptional isolation from external vibrations.
For precise leveling, the turntable’s height can be adjusted by rotating the knurled center section of each foot.
Included Accessories
The M8xTT includes several essential components to enhance the listening experience:
Heavy aluminum record stabilizer, optimizing vinyl contact with the platter and improving stylus tracking.
Leather mat, offering an ideal surface for vinyl records, reducing static noise and enhancing sound quality.
Semi-balanced phono interconnect cable with gold-plated connectors, ensuring clean signal transmission with no interference.
