Vienna Acoustics Beethoven Concert Grand Reference. Where Emotion Meets Engineering Excellence
The Beethoven Concert Grand Reference is the pinnacle of Vienna Acoustics’ loudspeaker design—a triumphant fusion of art, craftsmanship, and acoustic innovation. It is the result of years of dedicated research, obsessive critical listening, and a relentless pursuit of musical truth. Designed to reproduce music in its purest, most emotionally compelling form, it sets a new standard for high-end audio.
Engineering with Soul
More than a feat of technical mastery, each Beethoven Reference is a sculptural embodiment of sonic passion. At its heart lies an exclusive driver array and crossover design tailored entirely by ear, favoring musicality over mere measurement.
Three 7” X4P Spidercone woofers and a 6” Spidercone midrange deliver tight, tuneful bass and a rich, detailed midband. These cones, constructed from ultra-rigid and lightweight fiberglass composites, ensure fast, clean transients and a highly articulate low-end response.
The inverted textile dust cap, acting as a mini-diaphragm, enhances impulse response and tonal coherence across the system.
The 1.1” hand-coated silk dome tweeter, made by Scandinavian artisans, extends effortlessly into the treble without harshness—delivering sublime air, detail, and warmth.
Cabinetry Born of European Craftsmanship
Each speaker enclosure is built using advanced European joinery techniques, housing independent internal chambers for each driver. This ensures structural rigidity, minimizes acoustic interference, and allows each transducer to operate in optimal conditions.
Wrapped in real wood veneers or hand-polished piano lacquers, the cabinets are as visually exquisite as they are sonically invisible.
The carefully tuned bass-reflex system, using a Quasi-Butterworth (QB3) alignment, provides deep, powerful, and articulate low frequencies without muddying the overall soundstage.
Custom-Tuned Crossover: A Masterpiece of Integration
At the heart of the Beethoven’s natural sound is a Bessel-derived crossover network, utilizing both first- and second-order slopes (6/12 dB/octave). This topology is selected for its time alignment and phase accuracy, key to realistic imaging and fluid dynamics.
Components are of the highest audiophile grade, including:
±1% polypropylene capacitors
Air-core inductors for mid/high sections
Powder-core inductors for bass
Non-inductive precision resistors
All carefully tuned by ear through exhaustive listening trials.
